Wireless reception booster?

Colinear antennas tend to have narrower bandwidth and a bit "touchy" to get the SWR tuned right. at 2.4Ghz, the bandwidth is ok because the usable bandwidth is a percentage of the operating frequency. the 2.4Ghz antennas are made from a single piece of heavy gauge wire. the wire thickness of antenna is also an important factor. an antenna's bandwidth is somewhat proportional to the thickness in wavelengths of the wire. that's why discone and biconical antennas have such high (up to a full octave) bandwidth. the effective diameter of the element of a discone or biconical is up to a quarter wavelength.
