As loads of folks already have an intruder alarm system, and quite often already have a pir in the kitchen, it might seem strange to see two of them asthetically speaking, but also the new one may cause an interference pattern to be developed if not sited correctly. If I were to be asked to provide a movement sensor, I think I would use a small microwave detector hidden above the cabinets instead of a pir.
