A 208 V (line to line) Y-connected, 4-pole, 60 Hz synchronous motor is drawing 50 Amps at unity power factor from a 208 V (line to line) power system. The field current flowing under these conditions is 2.7 Amps. The synchronous reactance is 0.8 ohms.
a) Find the torque angle for this condition.
b) What magnitude of field current would be required to make the motor operate at 0.8 power facto leading (same real power)?
c) What is the new torque angle in part (b)?
d) Draw one phasor diagram showing the terminal voltage, generated voltage (Ea), and the torque angles from parts a and c.
