can any help please ? I want to change a power supply from 12v dc to 24v dc. Would appreciate any help

Boost converter.

If the load requirments are small, voltage multiplier might be an option.

I would recommend a switcher though.

Search these sites for switching regulators and/or switching controllers.

You can roll your own in a crude way using a PWM technique with a '555 but for the cost of these things, get a REAL controller, you'll like the extra features.

I am a novice and what I am trying to do with the 12v to 24v is use a 24v dc LED light from a lorry on a 12v dc motorcycle trike supply. Whilst the power output only needs to be about 1watt.Is there and does anyone know of a simple circuit for doing this.

Depending on size (easy of access) you might want to hack it
and make it 12V by splitting LEDs in two groups. Otherwise just make
small DC/DC converter...

You might even find that it's designed to be either 24V or 12V, and can be changed over easily on the existing layout - perhaps just some wire links need moving?.
