Hello,
I need to command 2 DC motors with a L298N H driver.
I have a few questions , because my electronics skills are only basic .
1. I will supply the board with 9V from a transf. Then i will use a 1n4148 diode to limit the current. Here is the first question: Will this diode grant me a maximum of 2A? I need 2A at maximum for the L298N for not to burn it.
From the output of the diode i will also put a voltage regulator, to provide me 5V for the rest of the circuit (uC-dspic30f3014 ... and others), but this is another story and i do not need help here.
The motors work well with L298N because they were used by someone else in this configuration. But I do not know how much A and V they need .
So, the main problem is not to burn the L298N. I would prefer the 1n4148 to crack instead, if the motors will ask for more then 2A. So, is the ideea good?
2. The second problem is that the driver schematics found by me on the internet allways came with some diodes connected to the outputs of the driver. I do not understand their need. Are they optional? I just want 4 wires to command two dc motors. All i need is the 4 outputs of the driver.
Please someone explain me this two problems. Thank you very much
ps: here is a link to the schematic of the driver:
