It is so "exciting" that I haven't used it for a couple of weeks and don't even know where it is.

Lol, isn't that just arguing that consumerism isn't real? :D Of course it is! These things were all objects of desire at some point in our lives - but the ultimate destiny for most of them is to end their lives in a scrap box, or in the back of someone's drawer. That is the nature of the consumer society that we live in.

Consumerism, technology, fashion pop music and so on, are all aspects of the same coin. 'Here today gone tomorrow...' That is the way it is and the way it has always been.

The knack is in simply embracing and attempting to capture and understand the populist tendencies of the consumer society.

Technology changes in response to the way people use technology - it is consumers who drive it - not just engineers and designers.

The true knack is in learning to study how people actually use technology - and then adapting the technology accordingly, That is how good innovation and good design happens. Bad design (impractical shapes - dead in the water products and so on) happens most when you ignore consumers - and try to tell them how they should and should not use technology.

Engineers are often guilty of this - because all they care about and understand is the engineering.

Best regards,

GJ
