using a RTC in SF basic

I have a DS-1302 RTC module but how to use it?
I recall Jon Chandler made a vu meter clock but what he used for timing?
Am planning on a clock that has no hands, just LEDs but precision would be nice.

I'm slowly getting the hang of swordfish again forget AI writing code tho but its good at helping with structure
I got ws2812 working using arduino neoled coding ASM for timing
I'm going to make my led light controller using a pico i found them on small board for $4 each.

ALL my projects are on hold since Trumpnokio has placed the tariffs.
Thinking there has to be maybe? a way to make a PCB but painting conductive ink on Plexiglas.
Have made several homemade PCB but requires a copper sheet, acid etc. Had limited success but I want to use plexiglass not copper laminated sheets.
My IDEA is to use conductive paint and a stencil of the circuit board design. Spray the paint in several layers.
Yes, it is a pipe dream.

This gotta be a little overkill here if you got 10 boards for a dollar they’re only gonna be [imath]1.50 more. That’s still way cheaper than[/imath]100 made in America.

Soldering to conductive spray paint on acrylic? 63/37 tin/lead solder has a eutectic point of 183°C. The melting point of acrylic plastic is ~160°C, but it softens at ~71°C. Even if you could spray paint conductive traces, soldering components isn't going to work so well.

What you smoking in that pipe???

You could also use one of them vinyl cutters, the thing that prints out like designs and vinyl I hear that they can cut a copper film that you could probably put on plexiglass. You just have to solder it real fast.

I’d buy a cnc

I bought one of these on KickStarter months ago. They are being delivered now – I got a delivery notice for today, but it's only a one pound package. I think they're torturing me making me wait.

It's only got a 4" × 6" build area but it's designed for circuit board milling. I never expected I'd want to mill circuit boards, but with the tariff situation.....

And really that’s 26 isn’t bad plus we always paid tariffs you just didn’t know it they shipped to are port and government paid it now it’s like gas they show you what’s going where

I just checked on 5 boards that I have ordered before the dang tariffs
5 boards = $2
shipping = $24.73

It depends on the value/weight of the order, and which shipping option you choose.

I'm currently waiting for 5 boards, under 100x100mm, so [imath]2.00 - and DHL shipping would have been[/imath]20+ (and would arrive about a week after ordering) - but for a low cost order like this it gives the option of 'Express Carriage', which cost [imath]1.50, then there's 20% VAT, at[/imath]0.70, giving a total of $4.20.

It usually takes 2-3 weeks for the boards to arrive, but as I'm in no rush, that's fine - but for more expensive orders, it's not available, and generally I'm wanting work orders faster anyway, and carriage usually (always) costs more than the boards (usually over £100).

When I ordered boards from Elecrow recently, there was a low-cost shipping options. They stated shipping could take 2 weeks PLUS an additional 2 weeks for customs clearance. DHL/UPS/FEDEX handle the customs clearance as part of their service, so their are usually no delays.

Be very careful to understand how the tariffs (tax on CONSUMERS) are collected – the vendor can charge you for the tariff and pay it for you or they can leave it up to you, in which case you'll have to pay it before your package is delivered. That could result in a nasty surprise if our TACO president has another tantrum and raises the tariffs again before your order is delivered.

I humbly apologize that idiot voters who believe trump is God's right hand man voted the grifter-in-chief back into office resulting in world turmoil.

My Cubiko, backed on Kickstarter back in April, finally arrived today. Yay. Other users have been turning some good-looked milled boards. I didn't expect I'd make many milled boards, but times have changed.

There's a lot to learn.
