Inside the can is a crystal that resonates. Just like a tuning fork. Most likely yours is12mhz. (not certain)
Corrosion is probably OK.
Dose the camera work?

The camera stopped working.
There is a flashing indicator light when the camera is switched on and it's getting 6vdc from both sources, (battery and adapter) but that's about it.
I have 3vdc leaving the switch so I assume that's ok.
I don't see anything obvious, I sprayed the board with contact cleaner but nothing changed.
