Tantalum capacitor failure - why?

None of this is happy reading when you got a old Gould O scope!
 
All of those in the bags are brand-new, never-been-used devices. They've not been subjected to [likely] years of power-cycling. In the five years I worked my last job, I never had any issues with any tantalums except the orange-drops. They were the only ones to go incendiary.

Yes they Have, I have been using these for OVER 20 Years.
Including the Orange ones.
 
So, just to update on this particular situation with the Digitech MSP4 and the popped tantalum capacitors, I am happy to report that the unit is now working fine after installing two 10uF capacitors that Gary (chemelec) was kind enough to offer me. Thanks Gary!
