I'm about ready to graduate from doing initial design & prototypes on breadboard to using software. The software I've looked at has been overwhelming and confusing for this newbie. Can you recommend software that can capture and simulate a schematic which is simple to get started with?

(Note that simple for a beginner is much different than simple-for-someone-who-knows-what-they're-doing - witness Windows versus Unix Shell Command Line. I'm in the first category when it comes to electronics.)
