problem with surround sound

I switched from dish to cable. I always had surround sound but now I can't get it to work. I have a 52in RCA and a Kenwood VC60RS home theater. Any help will be great.

Really need more info to know what to tell you. How do you have it hooked up?

There may be a setting on the cable box determining the format of the sound output. You might check for that.

Many cable transmissions are not in surround sound format. In my area only certain channels provide surround sound. In some cases just certain shows are in this format.
