An H-bridge has double the number of output parts that you need because it can driver a motor forward and reverse. You need a simple PWM LED driver circuit instead.
 
CoreM < You must design it for 1.4A unless you have liquid cooling. If you need have 5 LEDs to run then you need a boost regulator that outputs in the range of 16V.. There exist many CC boost regulators on the market that can do this.
