Maxim makes a counter/display chip called ICM7224 which will drive 4 1/2 digits of LCD by itself, or if you connect two or more chips together ("cascade") you can get more digits. Here's a link for the ICM7224 datasheet: https://www.electro-tech-online.com/custompdfs/2004/07/ICM7224-ICM7225.pdf This chip can count up to 25MHz. You'll also need a timebase circuit and a display, but that's about it. JB
thanks for the link.....i already have a kit that i built using a 7224 chip....what i was wanting to know is what will it take to make this counter into a freq counter...thank you
what i have is a kit by diy kits...kit # 36 https://www.a1parts.com/newkits/ and i'd like to know if there is any way to convert this over to a frequency counter....according to the data sheet it is possible..but i'm a newbie to electronics and have very minimal knowledge ....i need it count go from 0-30 khz...i would apreciate any help you could give ...thank you
