need you kind help on how this circuit mentioned below function. The reason why the resistor is connected in series with a capacitor. I have found this circuit which could be used as a swith debouncer.
The resistor charges the capcitor, when you press the switch it discharges the capacitor, when you release the switch, it charges again. Without the resistor it couldn't work.
The circuit is rather crude. When the button is pressed, a rather large current will flow since there is only the wire resistance etc to limit it.
This also could mean that some bounces may not be suppressed.
Consider this one, it has a time constant of about 100 mS and symmetrical bounce suppression, ie. the timre constant is the same for contact closure as it is when the contact opens.
