Anritsu Timer MS012A

Hi there,
I acquired this bit of kit some time ago and not sure what its purpose is, or how to apply it.
It looks to be some sort of timer, but doesn't seem to have START or STOP.
It just fires-up and starts counting in one second resolution.
It has a 1 Hz BCD output plug on the back and a few large multi pin connectors.

I am guessing that it was used to set a system date/time for a whole suite of test & measurement equipment via the
IEEE-488 (GPIB) interface on the back - but don't know if I am on the right track.

Of course I've tried googling it and visited the Anritsu website - no joy.

Would appreciate anybody who has seen one, and can give me an overview of its role in the T&M suite.
A manual would be fantastic, if anyone has one.
