Wiring of a Traffic Light

I did a little search and came up with nothing.

Basically, I just want to buy a traffic light from a state surplus and wire it to plug into my wall. (120v I believe). How would I go about doing this. And also, is there a way to control the light patterns and stuff?

It'd also be cool to set it up with a remote so I dont have to flip it on every time, but I want to get it wired up and running first.

Thanks so much for any help I can get!!!!

You're not married, are you )

IF you are setting it up with standard mains electricity bulbs, why not use a standard IR remote on/off switch that you can buy in a hardware store?

I think this was discussed recently here, and someone posted an image. The IR switch is just a replacement for a wall mounted switch.
