I've use the National Semi Simple Switchers like the LM2675, they're really nice little regulators and they run cool compared to linear device.

On a sidenote the 78S05 can handle 2A but you need to keep it cool.

What are the details of the voltage source on the input connector and what are you driving with the +5V and 3.3V.?
 
sorry guys :D this is for normal usage like a micro and SD card. Maybe a glcd or CLCD(char lcd)

This thread was mainly for the first post but i didnt want to make another POWER thread juts for this. Im DO NOT need more than 1A-1.5A for this. I need this for a SD thing im doing just want to make sure i have each section at 100% or close :D
