M morse w New Member Apr 3, 2012 #4 you would need to >match the current capabilities of the relay for the pump EG. a 3amp relay will burn out on a 5amp motor, but a 5amp relay is fine for a 3amp motor. check the spec on the pump housing for the amps or watts.
