Where do I begin when making a temperature controlled fan hub?

I would like to know the best way to improve my pc's situation, and also get more into making prototypes and overall circuitry. I have ordered some crimping tools, a helping hands tool, harnesses and soldering equipment to get me going, so ideally I would like to have this circuit working perfectly: 9 non-PWM RGB fans powered through a direct current with an internal probe to increase RPM based on temperature with the RGB plugged into my motherboards 5v rgb header. currently I have the rgb working but the fans are static and also spinning at a likelu 500rpm when connected through their 6pin chinese fan connecter. The kit is a EZDIY FAB kit.

I noticed in the circuitry of the fan hub 4 metal holes connected to the fan motors circuitry, in a 2x2 fashion and labebels in rows "key" and "ground". I checked the circuits resistance from the fan pin to the ground pin and its reading normally. Should I abandon the fan hub and try to work with an arduino type thing? I am still new to circuitry. Finally I have pulled a fan speed controller from a power supply that spins a brushless 12v fan based on temperature. Can I utilize it here? thanks.
