Verilog simulator

I want to learn verilog from the scratch. But I'm not aware about any simulators or IDEs or compilers available. Please tell me a good one. If it is a free software it would be better.

And i would like to know about any good online reference materials on verilog.

I'd suggest grabbing a free copy of Xilinx's ISE and doing your sims in there. Or you could download ModelSim to do just your simulations.
