Uno / AVR programmer

Hi,

The earlier Duemilanove board tutorials show how to use it as a programmer to an external chip, but the last info I found on this said the software needed updating to allow the UNO board to do the same.
Does anyone know if this has been done ?

Seems the parallel port ISP / SPI programmer method using a 74hc244 chip is a good way to program a chip directly and assume this works find on all the Mega range of chips.

Am I also right in believing this method can be used ok on all the ATMel chips including the AMR 7 32 bit chips ?
