rs-232 amplifier (1 input to 4 outputs)

You probably won't need an amplifier but you do need a way from keeping two devices from driving the bus to two different states. I've seen devices that use a "Diode OR" (you can probably get info on this on Google) to take care of that problem. Still only one device at a time will be able to drive the lines.

You could use a line buffer like the MAX232. Put one as a receiver, coverts to TTL then drive 4 for the outputs. Should work fine.
