can anyone help me with a datasheet of DIP05-1A72-12L relay from Meder Electronic or provide with pin configurations. i only get DIP05-1A72-11L on the net.

again, can i drive it with only a uC pin or do i need a transistor?

I got this Googling, Mouser.

i've got but i'm little confused of the PIN OUT. is it equivalent to 11(page 140 of the datasheet)?

hi,
Looking at the pin layouts for the 11 and 13, they are identical, except that version 11 duplicates the contact pins on pins 1 and 7.

I would say that looking at versions 19/21/51 they follow the same pins for the coil for all models.

That is pins 2 and 6 are the coil.
This should be easy to confirm with a ohm meter.

If you use pins 8 and 14 for the contacts that should be correct,
again apply the operating voltage to the coil and measure the contact closure.

DIP05 states it a 5Vdc coil.

The 1A72 code means it 500R coil, so thats Icurrent= 5/500= 10mA....
which a PIC can supply.

Its absolutely essential you fit a supression diode [1N4001] across the relay coil to protect the PIC.

exactly 1N4001? can't 1N4007 do the job? i have 1N4007 in hand.

Yes OK, the last number is the maximum working voltage, '1' means 50V
and '7' is 1000V.

Are you in SA.?

your answer means i can't use 1N4007?

YES, why ask?

No. my answer does not mean you cannot use, it means you can.:)

It over rated for the job but it will work just the same as the 1N4001.

I ask about SA, because I travel to PE every year.

wow!...I'm in Cape Town now!.
I'm looking forward to doing a masters programme in UK...what it is like to live in UK?

That depends on your age group and where you are going to live in the UK.

Its more expensive than CPT, at the moment the Rand/£ is about R15.5/£1.:)
