PIC16F690 PICBASIC PRO problem

I am using XP. I copied both the M16F6xx.Inc file and the 16F690.Inc files from C:\PBPDEMO\INC and C:\PBPDEMO respectively, and saved them in ver 2.40 and microcode studio is not recognizing the 16F690 as an option to chose from. What you described makes perfect sense but I don't understand why it's not being recognized?

ok, I'm trying it in mplab. I'm new to mplab... I assume the quickest way is to use the wizzard as you indicated before?

I believe that I've created a "project" now using the wizard but there aren't any windows to type my code in...

You can and your .bas file to your project.
