non-encyclopedic topics (opinion)

I think MM/DD/YY is silly and DD/MM/YY isn't much better, it should be YY/MM/DD because the largest units should always appear first. Eveything else has the larges units first, numbers, currency, imperial measurements, time so why not the date?

I like to put the month as three letters, i.e 19Jun09, when dealing with things that can be read by people of differing nationalities.

the fact that there are some "excellent" articles makes it only worse.

Wikipedia has, and is capable to abuse it's infrastructure to put weight on political issues, such as discussion of marriage.

It is yet unknown if the topic as such exists legally.

If you knew their old user icons from 2004, you'd know where they are coming from (a category of non-marriage partnership classifications, pretty much made up pseudo-science).

Ford said "History is pretty much bunk".

so the 9/11 attacks are just "bad".
Ji-had is just "bad".
if someone says, he wants to do a Ji-had to the U.S., just arrest that person,
or deport that person out of the U.S.

on the other hand, if you want to learn about Islam, look at the real-world Islam countries, for instance, islamonline.net
let them talk on their own, and don't put "fact" in their mouth.

on wikip. you get some instant fix of "reality", but you never have to apply your own judgement towards real-world data.
somone has already chewed reality for you, and tuned it towards NPOV.

if you want to understand about Karl Marx, read his works, and think about the background, don't look up the wikipedia article.

om the other hand, if you want to know U.S. history of inventing mass production, research Detroit on the internet.
there are plenty resources, both about the past, and present time.

NPOV is pretty much rascist and sort of concrete head mentality.

I've read a lot about both Karl Marx and Adolf Hitler, more about Marxism and Nazism from Wikipedia and other sources and I fail to see any difference in quality. Try Googling for all the above, reading the articles you get and you'll see what I mean.

Well unless you have a deep interest in history it's bunk.

It may not be that they write lies, but they'd rather not write all aspects.

Did you get the daily live of Viking youth from wikipedia?
Did you learn SIEMENS biography (before 3rd Reich, and during 3rd Reich), from Wikipedia?

They don't tell people everything on wikipedia, at lest, you would have to be able to locate the information.
for this purpose, someone must create categories for you, or you just encounter bits and pieces by random.

on Wikipedia you may find picture of the "Berghof", or how many years he spent in Landsberg, but I can not verify that personally.

to show Viking youth in a cheerful light, they'd have to leave NPOV, and would run into trouble being called for spreading N**zi propaganda, and whitewashing 3rd Reich.

I'm not saying they are doing this, but they don't tell you that side either.

"to tell the truth sometimes you'd have to lie, and to use propaganda",

or in political neutral words, "real life is not NPOV".

*** my point is just that J. Wales talks so much low-tone about books, and books publishers, while personally, I have read excellent books, as the mentioned SIEMENS biography, for free, in a library. there is no need to have such books at home.

You found a book dedicated to a topic is more thorough than a brief Wikipedia entry. Wikipedia and the book disagree on several political and disputed points. If you're surprised then you're incredibly naive.

well i found myself harrassed through all my edits, having most of them reverted, in an intolerant and agressive manner.

some of the edits argueable have not been bad at all.
they just removed all my work, apparently a socialist-anarchist junta, just for expressing doubt about one small, very small article,

where they defined coca-colonization, as "encyclopedic", because some socialist-student revolution activist from 1960s used that word inside an university.

it is not a very common term, and to me, just a compound word, but they protected it agressivly, insisted, and a year later, they found my other edits, and reverted most of it.

also i experienced numerous other editors as muffy, pedantic, and without real-world knowledge.
one wrote, "it would be possible to edit an article without any knowledge of the topic, just applying grammar rules, and style guide".
reminds me on stalinism-bureaucracy. not the real-world market was the priority, but the "plan soll", which they usually over-fulfilled by 110%.

I do not say they are socialist, or stalinist, but definitively they have some anarchist approach. Well as we know Stalin writes about the dear Ladies's and Gentlemen of anarchism, the utmost counterproductive and reactionary force working against the socialist utopia.

J. Wales is officially known as populist. I do not openly call him Anarchist, unless he declares himself as such.
but it can be shown they attracted a lot of real-world Anarchists, and also they have a so-called "barnster".
so effectively, would it make a hudge difference?
maybe politeness forbids me to do name calling.

for me the meaning of anarcho-communism is clear.

at first, no rules (like in the definition of anarchy).
then they add policies on daily basis as it suits their needs.

quickly it becomes concrete head functioneer-ism.

communism maybe just a little on the margin.

*money comes from somewhere and thank-you letters are written*

did I hear, to protect owls?

essentially they have 10x times the policies than any regular petty burgeoise would ever be able to think of in their wildest dreams.

I should mention "In old Chicago", as to cite my sources, an old b/w movie.

they are operating from Florida and Singapore, i think.

I reckon I might write da 'Ruddycrazypedia" and give an Oz point of view to everything . I'm sure some Irish twit will still disagree the words written on the page is a conspiracy of some sort.

For people to believe what they read on the net to be the solid truth just goes to show how naive this world has become.:(

<rant>

A senior mechanical engineer said to me only last month just how bad things are going in the mining game where so much mechanical gear is breaking down prematurely due to incorrect installation. He reckoned some mines will close not due to the world economic downturn but the cost of constant replacement of equipment.

Elsewhere in this forum I have seen where people dont trust techanical books due to their naive point of view. Sheesh has the younger generation of today actually had to do it hard for a period of time or are they just spooned off their parents and live in a shell on infecting the net with generation 'X','Y','Z' or whatever it's upto now.

How long has it been since we had a world war or major disease where the mass's were depleted, that seemed in the past to bring out the best in humans but the last 20 -30 years the world has changed for the worst not better. I reckon a decent conflict where all the people who spend all their time blogging on the net have to get off their butt and do it hard will be a blessing that really hides the horror they will see. Then we might get back to a more civil world.

<end rant>

Whynot hijack this thread with the crap i wrote above as it seems it's the norm on this forum now in any thread.

Guys and Gals this is an electronics based forum and too many forums have gone down the tubes where the main OP's thread gets side tracked just like this forum is doing.

All I ask please respect the OP's question and if you want to side track go and make your own thread or do it in here the Chitchat forum.

Cheers Bryan
