Imaginary numbers, -j Ω, S21, S11, circles and admittance charts can all be quite intimidating, and at first glance of a Smith chart most people are like, "huh?"
Well, Smith charts are quite useful in the RF world, and when building RF circuits the smith chart is invaluable. The sad part is most people are instantly intimidated and instantly take up a career in digital design forever thinking the Smith chart is as much a mystery as crop circles.
Learning Smith charts is actually easy, and with a few you tube tutorials, and other resources, you to can be well on your way to taking out the mystery of the Smith chart.
