Missing symbols

The button for adding symbols in a post has gone AWOL.

I had scripts disabled, so it wasn't working for me. Now corrected. Thanks.
 
How would I use that button to add an ohm symbol? It seems to be Maths only.

This is an inline ohm symbol \( \Omega \) You can choose Block or Inline

Try the fourth tab from the left.
\( \begin{array}{l}\Omega567\\\\it\;is\;345\Omega\\\\\\\end{array} \)

Due to using an Aussy keyboard I know that £ is Alt 0163 and that ° is Alt 0176 - how can both work for degrees?

What is the default font for this board and can it be changed?
