microcontroller for treadmill

hi,
am new member herenow am working in graduation project
"design an implementation for treadmill"
am need some help in that project
about what is the best microcontroller used in that machine
and if we can use the PIC microcontroller in that machine.
the m.c will recieve signals from heart & speed sensors
then control the motor speed

Any microcontroller should be fine, PIC's are certainly more than capable of it.
