I would like to transform an old music mixer to a dimmable light switch, I have found a board that will do the job, but want to wire it into the mixer, to use the slider on it rather than using a plastic slide resistor, what would be the best way to increase the resistance on a slide resistor, so it would dim a bulb, currently get 36k as maximum output,

What type and wattage bulb are you going to use? Resistance dimmer circuit for >10-20 watts fell out of favor decades ago. Nowadays they use something called a triac.
