Hi all,
In a JFET, why is the magnitude of gate-source cutoff voltage equal to that of pinch-off voltage ?

clarification

Hi pebe,
well there's a bit of confusion here about what i meant to ask.
I do not intend to disrespect your reply.
I just want to clarify the definitions as i have learnt them:

pinch-off voltage is the minimum drain-source voltage at which the drain current essentially becomes constant.

gate-source cutoff voltage is the gate source voltage where the channel is completely cut off and the drain current becomes zero.

plz do correct me if i am wrong somewhere or if there is some conceptual
error.

Regards,
Lalit

I have always understood that 'pinch-off voltage' is the often used slang term for the gate-source cutoff voltage.
