iPod charging is a fairly simple process, it all depends on which iPod you are using. Obviously you need a 5V power source, and since the iPod/iPhone only needs 500mA to charge, most 5V regulators can easily handle the current.

In order to begin charging, the iPod or iPhone will need to have its USB+ and USB- lines connected properly. Depending on the iPod you are using, this will require different techniques.
