Perhaps there should be a sticky thread in the projects section listing potential final year project ideas?

Perhaps people could add their ideas to this thread and it can be moved there?

I'll start.

An electronic connect 4 game. The counters could be replaced with bi colour LEDs and a pushbutton switch below each column to tell it where to place the counter. There could be several different levels of play.

The hardware would be easy, the challenging part is coming up with an AI algorithm fast enough to work on a MCU and is good enough to present a challenge, without taking ages to make a move. Doing it on a PC would be much easier, it's the limited processing power of a MCU which would probably be the problem.

I'll be honest, I wouldn't know where to start but this is a good project for someone who's good at software.

Note this is a serious thread, so let's keep the jokes for the other threads. :D

How about an electronic game show buzzer system, 8 contestants. We seem to have that project back in the top of the forums again. I actually made on way back when the guy asked using a PIC. No idea where it is today. PVC pipe for the handles and momentary buttons in the top. My kids had a blast with it.
