Have a look at my website, you may as well buy a kit programmer, the P16PRO40 kit is nice and cheap.

Hi,
I second Nigel's suggestion. If you look through this forum you will find MANY queries regarding programmers and associated problems. Try and stay away from serial port programmers ( very tempramental and problematic! ) and go for a parallel port programmer. I built the p16pro40 programmer kit and it worked from day one without any problems at all. ( Did treat myself to a zif socket! ) I also have a serial port programmer which works fine as well and off my laptop but maybe I am just lucky! ( http://www.talkingelectronics.com ) The software is also important and with the p16pro40 I use winpicprog ( On Nigel Goodwin's site http://www.winpicprog.co.uk ) with no problems at all. IF you decide to go the serial programmer route, icprog software works well.
Barry.
