I voted.

I came across this site from a post on the Parallax forum groups.
This forum has been part of my morning reading ever since.

Parallax is the company for the crapy basicstamp2 and other little add ons they sell for it.

It is expensive and is slow and has a pore PIC on it.

It is nothing compared to the dspic
Very nice. A little expensive at $10 bucks, but a great value/time saver given its abilities.

It would beat the leaving day lights of your little SX
I did not see in the spec sheet if the dspic has single-cycle instruction set.
The real power of the SX class is its blinding speed. This can overcome any "missing" features.
At 75Mhz one instruction takes 13us.

That and the < $2.00 price tag.

oh come on guys!

dont you have other things to do in life? there is simply no point in filling pages of a thread with device comparisons. none of you two have developed the PIC or the SX and niether are you their sales and marketing representative. right??

so, just chill out. if you like the SX then fine, great, work with it. if you like the dsPIC then fine, great, work with it.

speed is not always the main concern. the main thing is the architechture and the integrated peripherals. and as far as that is concerned all major microcontroller manufacturers have devices that fulfill the needs of any designer. its just a matter of choice

i hope that helps

have a good day

We are just playing we are not in a battle of which is the best we are just giving information for begginers, fun no?

:D

I'm with you Samcheetah.
I was trying to make a price / speed / instruction comparison.

I keep forgetting that sometimes people can be "smiliy face" deficient.
You will notice that there is one after the "beat up" statement.

My apologies to the forum if I stirred up the coals.

You didn't do anything
so why are you apologizing?

We were just debating a simple none aggresive topic, thats all.

I saw this post after I posted mine.
Now I feel duped. :D (<- Note: Smiliy face alert)

For the benefit of information, what does this 125Mhz chip of yours cost?

so why are you apologizing?
Damm, you got that in before this post. What you next door to me or something?

Yeah how did you know that I was next door?
:D

Anyway I bieleve the price for one of those pupies are $8 to $10 I am not sure, so prove me wrong if it is higher or lower.

So lets say that its $8.
Under two per SX, thats 4 SX's at 75mhz = 300Mhz.
Does that count?

Whoops, I just remembered this is a Poll thread.
I'll stop now.

It doesn't matter cause when nigel reads this he will lock it so post away or meet me in this electronics chat room.

i was searching for electronic project in google, then ELECTRO-TECH pop out...

My first and only electronics forum...

*Plenty of folks around here
*Questions got answered in an instant
*The ELECTRONICS GOD is here

Speed is definitely not the primary asset I seek in a microcontroller... I like having many I/O's and options and stuff... But the fact that both our friends r statin' their mind is good though: this will reveal the advantages of each chip... I just didn't like the 'tone' of their conversation, it made me  ... Chill up guys 8) :!:
