hit strength sensor

i want to make a little machine with a cushon on the front so when i hit it,it will display how strong the punch is(dont know what it would be measured in, or could i make my own measurement?i need help)

This topic was discussed here a few weeks ago so try doing a search for it. But the easiest way is just to punch a brick wall and if you break your hand you know you hit it hard, if you only break a finger or 2 you didn't hit it hard enough
