I'm looking to play around with GPS alittle bit. I was wondering if anyone has a good site that sells project kits or any project books. Really anywhere that I can get started would be great. I looked a bit but I wasn't satified with the material I found.

GPS Receiver Modules

Try the following link. They make GPS receivers with RS-232 data strings as output. You'll need an active antenna, but the modules work great

I think they use NEMA format, try to google "nema gps" as well
