Ebikes Higo protocol

I'd like to interface to an ebike motor controller, so I can pull data from it.
I've been looking at various controllers, a 6 pin type a cable seems to be common, using what they call a higo protocol.
I dont seem to be able to find much on this protocol, anyone have any experience of this?
