Count # revolutions for drill/ coil winding

Thanks in advance:
I need to wind some electromagnet coils
and to count the # of winds
with my drill.

Is there a gadget to attach to drill
to do the counting.
Or is there a circuit out there
that could be triggered by a magnet glomed onto the drill.
Thanks!

Maybe if you Tie a pedometer to the drill chuck.

I designed and built a 3 digit counter, taped a short dowel to the drill chuck which would operate a microswitch. that worked well but when the counter died I started just counting the clicks of the switch and found that was just as good.

A magnet and a reed switch could be made into a crude counter.

I have used an old counter from a kWh meter with a 1 to 1 gear to the shaft of the coil winder which i build from Meccano.
Works perfect.

There is a Good Up/Down Counter on my Website.
(See Below for my Website)
I origionally designed this for use with my Metal Laithe for Winding Coils.

Either a Reed Switch or a Hall Effect Swithch can be used to Trigger this Counter.
