Some times there is a battery that removed for a short time will cause the machine to forget the password.
Some times there is a jumper that when removed (or added) will reset back to the default condition.
In both cases you might only get the default password back. Have you searched for the manual on line?

Thank you for your attension in my post, Mr. Ronsimpson
If it has lost the settings due to a battery fail, it possibly has also defaulted to a factory ID number , How do you know it needs a user and password,? does it have a key switch with Z X S P positions,? Is there any indication of cashier numbers printed on the journal roll ? try 4 digits like 1234 or 9999 1111 etc. is there a sign in key ? It may need a fob to operate. post a bigger picture(s) of the actual machine.

A company must be known to have good service. It is a benefit to have good help. Only a bad company will take your money, for a product, and then say "good luck, never see you again".

The battery will just be supporting a RTCC chip ( guess ) the Flash memory you call EE possibly has the codes. there will be some method of clearing the password to a default, how else would the factory send out the boards ? . post a picture.
