camera remote help - N3 terminal

My digital camera (Canon 10D) has an N3 type socket/terminal for connecting a remote shutter release. Canon refers to this as the "N3 type socket" - as if this is a standard name for the connectors...

I am looking to construct my own remote but I can't find an N3 male plug anywhere.

I can post info from canon's website if that helps anyone.
