Sorry if im asking the obvious i have a netbook with corrupt bios chip. Is there anyway to reprogram the chip using icsp.
The chip is a EONF80-75HCP.
I also have a pic programmer (Velleman k48048 experimental board) which has icsp connector on but im new to this and seem to be going round in circles.
What i have kinda come up with is that it can be programmed but with a special programmer.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

You may be lucky and find a small homebrew programmer and some software to erase and reprogram this 8mbit flash device on the web, however, you may also find that the manufacturer of the netbook has personalised it by locking some code into the 256 byte security sector and/ or uses the device ID to identify that it is the correct part etc. Unfortunately although the programmer will no doubt be capable of reading and writing it, the software may not be. I think the best bet would be to get one professionally programmed for you, or obtain one from the manufacturer of the netbook.

Thanks for your reply but after a lot of head scratching and web searching i think i have a solution. I came across a few blogs about using a parallel printer port on another comp and some software to boot in dos mode. I have the programs and im going to give it a go in a bit. If all goes well it post back with results
