audio controlled led chaser

hi everybody,

i was thinking about designing a circuit that'll run a 10 LED chaser using the decade counter 4017 using a mic input through a preamp. can anybody design one and give me an idea? i am a noob at designing circuits and a simple diagram would really help a lot!
