Uh.. because I have another digit there - so there's 2 7490s.
I'm afraid you or I one doesn't understand.
You're wanting to count a two digit number, like 60, right?
The 7490 counter counts 0 - 9 continually. The 744(x) usually blanks the first zero, then counts 1 - 0, displaying on the seven-segment. If there are more numbers incoming from the 7490, it automatically carries over to the next 744(x), which displays it's digit. You can continues this string, using only one counter, on and on ad infinitum, or until you run out of time, space or money.
