7-segment display drivers

does anyone know of a small 3 digit seven segment display driver chip to take either a parallel byte input or spi from a PIC, and display 0 to 255

You can try MAX7218 which is a 8-digit multiplexed display driver. Use only 3 out of 8 digits for you purpose.
