Hi all,

I bought one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-X-50Watt-Class-D-Audio-Amplifier-TDA7492-/350709620982
like a lot of other ppl.

Then I discovered this resource:
https://www.trevormarshall.com/class-d-tutorial/
and this one:
https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/class-d/234778-new-sure-tda7492.html

Both have links to the amplifiers' schematics.

Here are the useful improvements to the TDA7492, 50W x 2 board:
  • Improve the amplification by up to 12dB ( tying the 7492 pins 30 & 31 to 3.3V by removing R6 & R7 '0' ohm gnd jumpers & shorting R10 & R11 pads near the top centre of the PCB; or add a 'boost' switch to do the job as required.)
  • Reduce the HF THD by 10 times by changing the output capacitors (C3 & C8 near the 4 wire output) from 1uf, X7R smd to film caps.
  • Also consider 1uf, C73 and C72 input replacements with film caps for better LF THD. These are under the Heatsink and will require installing insulated wiring to replace the smd chip caps with new remote mounted film caps.

The other link's 'TDA7498' discussion about going from 33uH to 15uH for a low pass filter for the Class D oscillator seems not to be necessary as in this particular amp the caps are already reduced to 22uH stock.

Edit: for those who need to replace a bad PIC chip in the amp, here is the Hex code from the 16F1503 PIC that runs the amp.
