Cox Communications serves these states in the US: Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island and Virginia.
Its e-mail system melted down about 5 PM EST on Friday December 14 and is still down. There are suspicions and some evidence that the outage resulted from a major outside attack. Cox itself has provided no information on the cause.
I suspect many of us rely on e-mail notifications of replies to our posts, and anyone directly affected by the outage has changed his habits. However there may be gaps (e.g., PM's that don't get timely answers).
I thought it might be helpful to notify the community of this major breakdown.

UPDATE: Cox has partial service restored and expects full service to be restored by late morning on December 17th . e-mails received by Cox during the outage were queued and will be delivered later.
