difference between capacitors?

The difference is in the dielectric material, between the plates (or surfaces) where the wires ( ot tags) connect to - but you knew that already

The other difference is in capacity, about a million times!
Ceramic capacitors come in picofarad sizes.
Electrolytic capacitors come in microfarad sizes, some very low voltage ones even in Farad sizes.

There is also a difference in application, ceramic capacitors are mainly used for high frequency, coupling, bypass, etc.
Electrolytic caps are used for storage, filtering, low frequency coupling, etc. they can also handle high ripple currents if made for that purpose.
Electrolytics are usually polarised while ceramics are not.

Try Google for more detailed information.
