total newbie here, wondering if i can manage to make an analogue to s/pdif input for the digital input on my soundcard!
audiophile quality is not the ultimate issue, i'm in it for the experiment as much as anything else (although i don't really want it to click and pop)
browsing thorugh a few component sites i noticed that AD chips are really cheap, so i thought i'd have a go, main problem being how on earth do you go from the digital output from one of these things to s/pdif? eg:

any answers/pointers would be great or if anyone knows a good place to do some reading up.
