12*12 matrix led project controll by remote control individually

Can anyone help me with this project.

I want 12*12 led matrix. Each of the led is separate by 2inch from adjacent led.
I want these led operated by remote control individually.
Means it should be possible for me to turn on and off any of led from matrix.

I take it you'll be looking at a Micro to control said board.... If so you can use the tutorials on Nigel's site ( linked in in my signature )

You'll find SIRC ( Sony InfraRed Control ) in one tutorial and matrix LED's in another.
