wire a computer speaker jack to an LED?

is that you put the led in reverse to test us or you werent careful?
it happents to me too sometimes, but usually i connect the components in reverse on thew pcb

I'm only getting back into electronics game after 7 years of not touching an LED... Hence the reason I'm still using pen and paper....!
